Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2025

By using this website or buying a pattern from Stitches by Moonlight, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What we sell

We sell crochet patterns as digital downloads. You are buying a set of written instructions, not a finished toy. Nothing physical will be shipped to you unless a listing specifically says otherwise.

Patterns are delivered through our checkout provider, Payhip, immediately after purchase. Prices are in US dollars.

Skill level

Our patterns are beginner-friendly but not written for someone picking up a crochet hook for the first time. You should be comfortable with basic stitches, be able to work a magic circle, and be able to follow a written pattern. Each pattern page states what it requires. Please read that before buying.

Refunds

Because patterns are delivered as files that cannot be returned, all sales are final once the file has been delivered.

If a file is corrupted, will not download, or is not what the listing described, email StitchesbyMoonlight01@gmail.com and we will fix it or refund you. We would rather sort out a problem than leave you with something you cannot use.

If you get stuck partway through a pattern, get in touch. Confusion usually means we can write that section better, and we would like to know.

Pattern license: What you may and may not do

When you buy a pattern, you are buying a license to use it, not ownership of the design. Here is what that means in practice.

You may:

  • Make as many items as you like from the pattern, for yourself or as gifts.

  • Sell finished items you made yourself by hand, in small quantities, at craft fairs, online shops, or locally. We ask that you credit the design to Stitches by Moonlight and, where there is room, mention Moonlit Hollow.

  • Photograph your finished work and share it anywhere you like. If you post to Instagram, please tag StitchesbyMoonlight.co

  • Print the pattern for your own use.

You may not:

  • Share, resell, give away, or distribute the pattern file, in whole or in part.

  • Post the pattern, or your own rewritten version of it, anywhere online or in print.

  • Translate the pattern and distribute the translation.

  • Use the pattern for mass or factory production.

  • Sell finished items using our photographs, or present the design as your own.

  • Claim the characters, their names, or their stories as yours.

Every pattern file is stamped with the purchaser's email address. This is not there to make anyone uncomfortable. It exists so that if a file turns up somewhere it should not, we can see where it came from.

Our characters and stories

Max the Mouse, Reese the Rabbit, Wade the Wolf, the other characters, Moonlit Hollow, and the stories and illustrations connected to them are original work and remain our property. Buying a pattern lets you make the toy. It does not give you rights to the character, the name, or the world.

Making toys for children

We design our patterns with play in mind, and we describe those design choices honestly on each pattern page.

That said, we sell instructions. We do not control the yarn you choose, the tension you work at, the way you sew your pieces together, or the stuffing you use. Those choices affect how a finished toy holds up.

If you are making a toy for a young child, embroider all features rather than using safety eyes or any other small attached part, sew every join securely, and check finished toys regularly for wear. The person who makes a toy is responsible for whether it is suitable for the child who receives it.

Limits

We provide our patterns and this site as they are. We do our best to make our patterns accurate and clear, and we correct errors when we find them, but we cannot promise a pattern will be free of mistakes or that a finished item will meet a particular expectation.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our patterns or this site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. Changes apply to purchases made after that date.
